ROw80 - Round 3 - Check in 1

My Goal - To complete prep work for the 2nd Draft of a novel.

I dug out the 1st draft of Shroud and have been going through making a list of all the story's locations and characters journeys from A to B and am up to chapter 6. My 1st draft was devoid of any real detail and I have a background element which is relevant to the locations that hasn't been developed enough.

I'm still studying but once the latest assignment is done I'll have a whole week to carry on with this before I need to begin the 4th part of my course and hopefully I can import the whole thing into a spreadsheet and start working out my timeline.

It's good to be back.

How's everyone else doing?

It's good to have a plan that works for you....congrats!

I also like how you're filling in the details. Hang in there, and you'll feel the glow of success!

Seems like you're doing great so far. It's very smart to make a timeline and match the locations.
Keep it up and let us know how you're going. :)

Working on timelines etc is a fiddly process but oddly enough I often find it entertaining (albeit frustrating). I start back at uni this week, so I can empathise with the pain of having assignments eating all your writing time :(

you're doing well - I never quite got the mapping out bit when I started this writing lark seemed far to fiddly but now I really enjoy it - I too have a rough draft and then spend time filling in detail checking the events work that things that are important at the end creep in at the right place - good -

good luck with college work and keep smiling

Welcome back to ROW80, Katy. It sounds like you have a good plan. With your other assignments, it may take some tweaking, but you'll get there, I'm sure. Have a great week.

Sounds like a great plan. Always good to be organized. I know what you mean - my first drafts are always a bit sketchy with details. More dialogue than anything else. Have fun prepping for your 2nd draft. Good luck with your classes.

Keep up the great work Katy! The spreadsheet sounds like a great plan to give you a high-level over view of your storyline.

Thanks Rebecca, I'm actually looking forward to nailing the timeline.

Thanks Alberta, you keep smiling too.

Thanks for dropping in, Nancy

Robin, it's nice to know I'm not the only sketchy 1st drafter. Enjoy the day

Thanks Gene, the first draft gives me something concrete to work from.

Redrafting is always fun. My current WIP is a reconstruction of an old story as well. Good luck!
